Has Iraq been Involved in the Terror Attacks Against the U.S.?
Ruth Matar, Women in Green Radio Program
Arutz Sheva, October 2, 2002
I read a very interesting article in the Wall Street Journal of September 5,
2002 entitled "The Iraq connection", which raises the strong possibility
that Iraq may have been complicit in the terror attacks against the United
States since the end of the Gulf War. We do know for certain that Saddam
Hussein plotted to assassinate former President George Bush, Sr. during his
visit to Kuwait in April of 1993. Could Saddam Hussein have been waging a
terror offensive against the United States ever since the end of the Gulf
War?
We are honored to have as our guest Laurie Mylroie, a renowned Middle East
Expert. She has taught at Harvard University and the United States War
College, and is advisor to the Pentagon on terrorism. She is the publisher
of "Iraq News" and Vice President of "Information for Democracy".
Laurie Mylroie is the author of a fascinating book "Study of Revenge: Saddam
Hussein's Unfinished War against America". In this book Laurie Mylroie
makes a powerful case for Iraqi involvement in the first World Trade Center
attack. She argues that Saddam Hussein is driven by a desire for revenge
following the Gulf War and is the single greatest terrorist threat to the
United States.
Former CIA Director James Woolsey (1993 to 1995), has personally endorsed
Ms. Mylroie's findings in various op-ed and magazine articles. He wrote the
foreword of this book and describes it as "brave, lucid and careful".
The entire interview with Laurie Mylroie can be accessed at:
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/metafiles/asx/wig.asx
Laurie Mylroie makes a powerful case for Iraqi involvement in the first
World Trade Center attack. She combed through thousands of court documents
of the case and pieced together a series of credible connections with Iraq.
Mylroie's research successfully challenges the widespread belief that rogue
networks of terrorists run by Islamic radicals like Osama bin Laden work on
their own without state sponsorship. She argues that because Saddam Hussein
is driven by a desire for revenge following his defeat in the Gulf War, he
is the single greatest terrorist threat to the United States.
After extensive research, Mylroie concluded that if the Clinton
administration had not ignored the question of possible Iraqi involvement in
the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the United States might have been able
to prevent a series of subsequent terrorist attacks, such as:
a.. the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing of the US Federal Building which killed
168 people;
b.. the 1996 bombing of Al Khobar Base in Saudi Arabia that left 19
American servicemen dead;
c.. the 1998 bombing of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania which
killed 224 people, injuring more than 4, 500;
d.. the 2001 September 11, bombing of the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon, which left close to three thousand people dead and many injured.
The United States has recently commemorated the biggest terror attack so
far, September 11. There is a heated debate in the United States whether to
go to war against Iraq. If any or all of these murderous attacks can be
traced to Saddam Hussein, the question of whether the US is justified in
pursuing that course becomes academic. The argument is settled. The debate
should end.
Israel has no need to trace where the terror comes from. Israel has long
been engaged in a war against this terror. But many Israelis are needlessly
losing their lives because Mr. Sharon does not fight this war to win and
deliberately allows Arab terrorism to exist at a "tolerable" level, as he
admitted in a Jerusalem Post interview published on September 27 of this
year.
Because of Sharon's self-confessed tolerance of Arab terrorism, another of
our beloved sons was killed by an Arab sniper this last Monday. Ari Joshua
Weiss, only 21 years old, was the son of Rabbi Stewart and Mrs. Susie Weiss
of Raanana, Israel. I received an email from my friend Diane Benjamin of
Dallas, Texas, who told me that Rabbi Stewart Weiss was the former Rabbi of
her congregation, Tiferet Israel in Dallas, before the Weiss family made
aliyah. All the congregants of his former synagogue join in sharing the
grief of the Weiss family.
Ari Weiss died a hero's death defending his people and his land. May his
memory be for a blessing.

Stop Blaming Fuad!
The following is the translation into English of part of Nadia's Radio
Program last Thursday morning on Arutz 7.
Anyone who follows the reaction of members of the National Camp regarding
the evacuation of Meahazim (Outpost Settlements) is witness to the
interesting phenomenon that almost everybody strongly condemns and attacks
Minister of Defense Fuad Ben Eliezer. There is not a single word of
criticism against Prime Minister Sharon, as if Sharon himself is not involved.
We are being sold fairy tales, as if it is connected with Fuad's needs
before the Labor Party's Primaries, and Ariel Sharon "is forced with a
heavy heart" to give this present to Fuad. They try to explain to us that
Ariel Sharon is not interested in the evacuation of those outposts, but
what can he do? This is the price of the unity government, we are told.
And so once again, the members of the National Camp are falling into the
trap that Ariel Sharon is setting for all of us. My brothers and sisters in
the National Camp, the time has come to wake up. It is the Prime Minister
of Israel, Ariel Sharon, who is responsible for the evacuation of the
outposts, he and no one else.
The evacuation of the outposts seems to be part of an agreement between
Ariel Sharon and the "quartet", the United States, Russia, The United
Nations, and the European Union. The agreement consists of the quartet's
accepting the demand by Sharon of "reforms" in the PLO Authority. It is a
stupid and extremely dangerous request. During the Second World War, the
Allies did not demand "reforms" such as the replacement of Hitler by
someone like Goering. Rather, they understood that in order to restore
peace in Europe, they would have to totally eliminate the entire Nazi
infrastructure. Unfortunately, Sharon has not yet come to this realization,
and for this we pay in Jewish blood every day. In exchange for "reforms",
Ariel Sharon promised the quartet to establish a Palestinian state in the
heart of Eretz Yisrael during his next term in office. The first stage in
the establishment of this PLO state consists of the evacuation of the
outposts. First the evacuation of small outposts, and then the evacuation
of the established settlements.
We must understand that Fuad is only a supporting actor in this play.
Although the timing is extremely suitable for him, due to the struggle for
leadership of the Labor Party, it is Ariel Sharon who must bear chief
responsibility and guilt for the transfer of Jews. In this play both Sharon
and Fuad emerge as winners. Ariel Sharon benefits from the fact that the
arrows of criticism by the National Camp are not directed at him. Fuad
benefits from realizing his selfish objectives in his personal struggle for
Labor Party leadership, and accepts the scapegoat label that everyone in
the National Camp so greatly wish to attribute to him.
Therefore, the leaders of the National Camp must immediately stop their
criticism of Fuad, and begin a frontal attack against Ariel Sharon. The
struggle against the evacuation of the outposts is not only the battle for
a single mobile home here or there. This is the beginning of the struggle
for all the settlements in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. Ironically, it is the
Sharon who, as Begin's Defense Minister, uprooted Yamit; he is once
again repeating his past sordid actions.
We must remind the Prime Minister that a leader who destroyed a Jewish
settlement in Eretz Yisrael and expelled Jews from their homes did not win
in the next election. If the Prime Minister will attempt to realize the
plan for the transfer of Jews from the outposts, he must know that we will
transfer him from the offices of the Prime Minister. And we will do the
same for every member of the National Camp who will remain glued to their
seats in Sharon's Jewish-expulsion government.
It is inconceivable that right in the middle of a bloody war with the cruel
Arab foe that the Prime Minister would evacuate Jews from settlements that
were established in memory of the victims of Arab terror. These places
both maintain the security of the Jews in the area and constitute the
ultimate Zionist response to terror. The Arab enemy hopes that the terror
attacks will cause the Jews to leave Eretz Yisrael. The establishment of
the outposts shows the Arabs just the opposite: the more they attack us,
the more strongly we hold onto our holy land. Their guns and bullets
(which they sadly received in the past from Foreign Minister Shimon Peres
and all the other Oslo-ites) will never succeed in driving us from our land.
The Prime Minister who gives the order to evacuate outposts is a Prime
Minister who spits in the face of the victims of Arab terror. If Sharon
indeed gives such an order, not only must we resist such an evacuation, but
we must at the same time act to bring down the government. An order to
evacuate outposts is against the national interests of our Jewish People,
and must be resisted.

Why Christians Should be Worried about the Fate of Jerusalem!
Ruth Matar, Women in Green Radio Program
Arutz Sheva, October 16,2002
Last Friday, October 11, there was a wonderful happening in Washington
DC a rally by United States Christian Zionists in support of Israel
The success of this rally was eagerly anticipated by all those who love
Zion, and who believe in the promise of HaShem to His People Israel: "I
will give you this land for an everlasting possession." This rally was
intended to demonstrate grassroots American Christian support for Israel.
Some of the major American media, such as the "60 Minutes" TV program and
the Washington Post, treated this rally in a very negative
manner. Clarence Wagner, International Director of Bridges for Peace, told
me that he had agreed to be interviewed on the "60 Minutes" TV program, but
was very disappointed in the negative approach to Christian Zionists shown
by the producers of this program. Their orientation immediately becomes
crystal clear if we consider their choice of Gershom Gorenberg, a little
known Israeli political journalist as their expert on Jews and Christians.
Mr. Gorenberg is a major self-hating Jew, and he doesn't like
Bible-believing Christians any better. In fact, he thinks those kinds of
Christians are dangerous, and he wants Israel to turn its back on them.
Why does he hate Christian and Jewish Zionists so much? Because we both
believe, as did Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, that our
right to this Land is based on the Bible, or in his words: "The Bible is
our mandate."
I might as well quote Gorenberg directly. This quote is from the October
Jerusalem Report.
"The Jewish belief in a classic divine promise of return should be
categorized as a bizarre, modern, ultra-nationalistic, sectarian, Zionist
invention."
Pretty clever those Zionists, to be able to "invent" such ideas! Without
any help from the Bible?
The Washington Post has also "discovered" Gershom Gorenberg. They
published an article of his on October 11, 2002, the day of the rally,
entitled "Un-Orthodox Alliance". The sub-title of this article was
"Israeli and Jewish interests are better served by keeping a polite
distance from the Christian right." His article is an unmitigated attack
on Christian Zionists.
Gorenberg also engages in sloppy advocacy journalism. He is not beyond
slipping in some unsupported facts as incontrovertible truth: "No wonder,"
he says, "that a recent poll showed a majority of Israel's Jews favoring a
Palestinian state." Which poll was that? When was this poll taken? Who
took this poll? Where was this poll taken?
On the other hand, the Women in Green have collected hundreds of thousands
of signatures on a petition against a Palestinian state in our G-d-given
land. These are authentic signatures of real people, with real addresses,
and with real phone numbers.
Now here is another Gershom Gorenberg quote from the Washington Post
article. This one takes the cake!
"But as frightening as Palestinian terror is, it does not threaten
Israel's existence. The Christian right's position, on the other hand, is
exemplified by Senator Inhofe's statement last March on the Senate floor
that Israel should keep the West Bank "because G-d said so". Rather than
support for Israel, this is support for hard-line policies that endanger
Israel in the name of fundamentalist theology."
Can you imagine: Gershom Gorenberg lives in Jerusalem and is not afraid of
Palestinian terrorists, but thinks that Senator Inhofe's statement "because
G-d said so" endangers Israel in the name of fundamentalist theology!
I, for one, choose to be in the camp of G-d and Senator Inhofe; it seems to
me that this Gershom Gorenberg is rather intellectually and morally
challenged.
Why then, did the "60 Minutes" TV program and the Washington Post feature
this not-too-well-known Israeli journalist to do a hatchet job on the
evangelical Christians in the United States? Might these media giants have
an agenda of their own, which usually turns out to be anti-Israel?
How about giving equal time to former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu,
Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert, Knesset Member Benny Elon, Christian Coalition
National President Roberta Combs, US Senator Sam Brownback, Congressman
Lindsay Graham, Clarence Wagner, and others?
Christian Coalition Head Roberta Combs explained the purpose of the rally:
"We are holding a rally for Israel during these difficult times to let
Israel know that they are not alone. This rally is to let the Jewish State
know that we stand with them."
Besides standing with the Jews because of religious and moral concerns,
there is an additional reason for Christian support for Israel: Enlightened
self-interest! That is why our topic tonight is:
WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THE FATE OF JERUSALEM!
Our guest tonight is David Raab, who is a Strategy Consultant. He has done
a lot of research on this topic and has recently written two articles of
great interest to Christians: "Understanding American Christian
Perspectives Regarding Jerusalem" and "The Beleaguered Christians of the
Palestinian-Controlled Territories."
(A recording of this entire program, including the interview, is available
on http://www.israelnationalnews.com - Click on "On Demand Audio" on the
blue bar.)
Most of us have realized by now that the Arabs not only hate the Jews, but
they hate the Christians too. We both are in their eyes "infidels" and
"dhimmies", a lower class of human beings than Muslims, the believers in
Allah. "Allahu Akhbar" means, not as commonly believed, "Allah is great",
but "Allah is greater". Also, we have all heard of the popular Arab
graffiti "first the Saturday people, then the Sunday people". But, until I
read David Raab's articles on the beleaguered Christians in the Muslim
countries in the Middle East, I didn't realize how precarious their
situation really is. In his research, Mr. Raab has focused specifically on
Christians in the Holy Land and Jerusalem.
The United States State Department has just published their Annual
International Religious Freedom Report which asserts that the "Palestinian
Authority makes a strong effort to maintain good relations with the
Christian community". The US State Department is once again not telling us
the truth.
I found the following Letter to the Editor in today's Jerusalem Post,
entitled, "Do Not Destroy":
Sir- I returned on October 11 from a pilgrimage to Israel with a group
of Zionist Christians. We were blessed to be in the land, and our desire
was to support the Israeli people. We were met with warmth and
enthusiasm. On our last day in Jerusalem, we went to the Garden Tomb in
East Jerusalem near the Damascus Gate. There was a distressing thing
happening to the Hill of Golgotha. The Arab bus station, in the process of
expanding, is defacing this site, so important to the Evangelical Christian
community worldwide. The mouth of the skull is now gone, and the nose will
be removed by next week. Someone has to do something. If it were the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher or the Church of the Nativity being destroyed,
there would be a worldwide outcry from the Catholic Church. Please bring
this issue to the forefront and assist us in making this destruction come
immediately to an end.
Patricia Purcell
Jacksonville, Oregon
We, living in the Land, much appreciate our Christian friends rallying in
Washington DC to support Israel. However, it is important to realize at
this time that there are vital practical concerns about Christians and
Christian interests in Jerusalem and the Holy Land. These concerns need to
be addressed immediately, such as the discrimination against Christians in
East Jerusalem and the Palestinian Authority-controlled territories.
What can American Christians do? Above all, don't let the United States
State Department once again pull the wool over your eyes. "The Palestinian
Authority is not making a strong effort to maintain good relations with the
Christian community." In fact, Christians are beleaguered. The Muslims
are discriminating against them, and they show utter contempt for
Evangelical Christian holy places, as you can understand from reading the
letter by Patricia Purcell from Jacksonville, Oregon.
What can you do practically? Alert your representatives, your senators,
and President George W. Bush, as to how you view the true situation in the
Holy Land. It is not enough to "stand with Israel". American Christians
must actively make their own government realize that Israel is not a burden
on Christian America in its fight against terror. On the contrary, Israel
is on the frontlines of the battle against the militant Muslim onslaught
against our Judeo-Christian heritage.
In the words of the Prophet Isaiah, 62:1--
"For Zion's I will not be still, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not
be silent, until her righteousness emanates like a bright light and her
salvation blazes like a torch."

Deception
Dear Friends of Israel,
As you know, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Defense Minister Fuad Ben
Eliezer have announced that they will dismantle tens of Jewish outposts. In
a previous article we have already discussed how such an order is against
the national interests of the Jewish People, and gravely endangers the
lives of those in the area who are sitting ducks for continuous Arab
terrorist attacks.
The most outrageous story is the one of the "Gilad farm" and after you read
the following, we urge you to:
1- Forward this message to all friends, and supporters of Israel
2- Fax Prime Minister Sharon, Defense Minister Ben Eliezer, and Effy Eitam
of the NRP:
The "Gilad farm" was put up after Gilad Zar HY"D was murdered. The Gilad
farm had been put up by Gilad's family on land privately bought by their
father Moshe Zar, who at a press conference last week, showed all the
documentation that the land was his. The Gilad farm was put up on a
strategic point, defending all Jews in the area. The legal documents did
not help and the order to evacuate came anyway. Close to 2000 Jews came to
passively resist the evacuation last Wednesday.
Moshe Zar, in order to prevent any confrontation with the army, came to a
compromise with the government and they promised him that if he would leave
the area voluntarily and call upon all Jews at the place to leave with him,
the government would allow the residents of the farm to come during the day
and continue to work the land. All construction would stay but the
residents would not be allowed to sleep there at night.
Moshe Zar agreed, naively believing the government would keep its promise.
The Jews left quietly. The next day, a message came that Sharon and Fuad
had given the order to completely destroy any construction on the hill
(caravans, shacks etc.) This was a complete betrayal of their promise and a
spitting in the face of the Zar family - family of victims of
terror. Hundreds of Jews came to stay at the place in order to prevent the
destruction of any construction.
The implementation of the evil decree took place during this past Shabbat
(which is outrageous in itself - Jewish soldiers were called to action and
asked to desecrate the Shabbat, which usually is only done in case of
extreme emergency) and lasted till after Shabbat. The soldiers are
evacuating the Jews of the Gilad farm with extreme brutality and
force. Hundreds of Jews in the area, understanding that the Zar family was
betrayed and tricked, are trying to get to the Gilad farm and prevent the
evacuation.
What can we do, you ask? It is of utmost importance to bombard the Prime
Ministers office with hundreds of faxes of outrage making it clear that we
know that Sharon is responsible for these actions. He will pay the price
in the upcoming elections. In addition, it is very important to demand
from Effy Eitam, of the NRP (Mafdal) to leave the government
immediately. How can they stay in a government that transfers Jews from
land they legally own? How can they stay in a government that does nothing
against tens of thousands of illegal Arab buildings but attacks Jewish
victims of terror?
