Dear Friends,

Women in Green mourn the passing of a great Jew, Yisrael-Izzy-Kaplan.
Baruch Dayan Emet.

The funeral was held yesterday Monday in Jerusalem.

Shiva at the home of David and Tiffany Kaplan: Yehuda 196, Modi’in

There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful and special man Izzy was. A passionate lover and fighter for the Land of Israel who dedicated his entire life for Am Yisrael, Erets Yisrael and Torat Yisrael.

We will always remember him as we continue the work for the Land of Israel and the people of Israel. May his memory be a blessing to all.

Below please find an article about Izzy written by Tzvi Fishman.

To his family and friends we send our condolences. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and may you know no more sorrow.

An Example For All of Us
March 16, 2010
by Tzvi Fishman

(Israelnationalnews.com) Yisrael, Izzy, Kaplan, a fierce and devoted fighter for Israel, was laid to rest today in the Land he so loved.
Izzy lived in Toronto, but his real home was here. He lived and breathed the Land of Israel 36 hours a day, sharing in its joys and suffering through its trials and setbacks. His soul was so connected to the Land that he experienced the evacuation from Gush Katif as if he himself had been thrown out of his home. He never recovered from the blow. The betrayal of his beloved Israel, of Hashem’s Holy Land, by his fellow, albeit misguided, Jews, ate him up inside. So much so that, in my humble opinion, it brought upon the illness that toppled him while he was still in his prime.

Always a family man first.

Izzy helped so many causes in Israel, I doubt that anyone will be able to compile a complete list. Izzy himself wasn’t rich when it came to money in the bank. Much of what he had, he gave away to all sorts of charities, organizations, and political struggles in Israel, and also in Toronto, no doubt. When those funds weren’t enough, he rallied the Jews in Toronto to send substantial financial support wherever he felt it was needed in Israel. For years, he acted as the go-between between the community of Toronto and activists in Israel from Gush Katif to the Golan Heights, helping causes in Jerusalem, Yesha, Hevron, Sederot, Amona, terror victims, Lebanon War reserve soldiers, backing demonstrations, rallies, protests of all sorts, posters, videos, and a wide assortment of campaigns to prevent the sell-out of Eretz Yisrael by Jews who had not yet learned the lessons of the Holocaust.

My first contact with Izzy was two decades ago via a phone call from Toronto. He said his name was Izzy Kaplan, that he ran a Jewish bookstore, and that he wanted to purchase a few dozen copies of a book I had published, “Torat Eretz Yisrael,” on the writings of Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook. I met him on his next visit to Israel, when he picked up the books on his way back to the airport to shlep them with him on the plane. Each time I wrote a new book, he placed a special order, “To get the word out to the Jews in galut,” he said.

When he discovered that I was active in the struggle against Oslo, he funded a series of posters that filled the streets of Israel and the media all over the world. He raised money for films against Oslo, and then against the Disengagement, which were distributed all over Israel. The travesty of Amona so disturbed him, he helped me produce a video detailing what had happened, which he mass circulated on the Internet, and raised more funds for the distribution of 200,000 CDs that helped weaken Ehud Olmert and the Kadima party before elections.

Just like Izzy - battling to stem the tide.

During the battle over the “Peace House” in Hevron, Izzy sent me a personal check to make four gigantic signs that we hung over the building to get our message across to the world.

G-d Gave Israel to the Jews!

I don’t remember all of the projects he helped us with, nor all of the middle-of-the-night phone calls from Toronto to fill him in on the latest developments. All I can say is that my wife became accustomed to my abandoning the comforts of sleep in the wee hours of the night to speak with Izzy.

“Tzvi, we have to stop the evacuation!” he would insist. “Tzvi, we have to do more to help Sederot,” he would urge. “Tzvi, we have to do more to help the refugees from Gush Katif.” Dafka at two o’clock in the morning.

And the help he gave to the projects that I was involved in was just a drop in the bucket compared to all of his efforts, and the generous efforts of his friends, whom he rallied on behalf of Israel.

Hopefully, during the shiva, all of the stories about Izzy will be recorded. I will relate just one that his son told at the funeral. To find out exactly what was happening in Gush Katif before the expulsion, Izzy came on a trip and met with dozens of people. When he returned to Toronto, he entered a Haredi shul on Shabbat, and after the Kiddush, gave them a stirring lecture to arouse them out of their apathy. He started off by telling about a Jew in the Holocaust who had managed to escape from one of the extermination camps. When the man told his traumatic story, no one believed him. They thought he was crazy. “The same thing is happening today in the Holy Land!” Izzy yelled at the crowd. “The Jews of Eretz Yisrael are in danger and we aren’t doing anything at all to help! When will you wake up?! You have to help your fellow Yidden!”

That Shabbat, Izzy went from shul to shul, telling the same story, his voice shattering, and with tears in his eyes.

That was Izzy. The pain over Gush Katif killed him. The missiles falling on the Jews of Sederot ate him up inside. With all that he did to turn the tide, helping wherever he could, the inaction of world Jewry, coupled with the short-sighted recklessness of politicians in Israel, was more than he could bear.

May his memory be for a blessing. His passionate love for Israel and the Jewish People, and his untiring energies on their behalf, are an example for all of us.

Dear Friends,

At a time when the US government has the audacity to condemn Israel for building in its own capital and at a time when antisemites all over the world are holding demonstartions calling for the destruction of Israel (see for instance the footage of a demonstration in Paris ), Women in Green will go on a chizuk trip declaring: ‘The land of israel belongs to the People of Israel”, strengthening our brothers and sisters in the southern hills of Hevron, who are proudly defying the building freeze.

We will also strengthen those who have been expelled from Gush Katif five years ago, declaring together: “NEVER AGAIN will we allow Jews to be uprooted from their G-d given Biblical Homeland. We will not rest until we will go back to Gaza and rebuild Gush Katif.”

Join us on this important and moving trip!

UPDATE:
The NYPD has switched the locations for Tuesday night WE ARE GOING TO BE on PARK at W. 50th - 51st, and the Haters will be at W. 48th - 49th.

On Tuesday, March 9, The Friends of the IDF is having their annual dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC. We have learned that there will be an Arab demonstration outside the hotel, defaming the IDF and Gabi Ashkenazi, the Chief of the IDF General Staff.

We will be handing out information, holding signs, Israeli and American flags, and alerting the public as to the true nature of Fatah, Hamas and the PA. The Hamas terrorist acts against Christians and Fatah, the use of women and children as human shields, the firing of rockets from mosques, homes, and schools in order to deter IDF retaliation, the misinformation and hatred being fed to Arab children in their classrooms and through PA media, will all be detailed.

We’ll be highlighting the IDF and Israeli assistance to the Arabs in the fields of medical care, education, and providing a standard of living for Arab Israelis that is the highest in the Middle East. In addition, in opposition to the recent “apartheid” claims against Israel, the Israeli Arabs enjoy full democratic rights in the Knesset , in their religious observances, and in the media.

A number of grass roots activist groups have come together to counter-protest on that evening. They include Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI, Get Out The Facts, Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam, National Council of Young Israel, Shalom International, Stand With Us, World Committee for the Land of Israel, Zionist Organization of America/ZOA . 4) INTERNATIONAL TEMPLE MOUNT AWARENESS DAY:
MARCH 16TH, ROSH CHODESH NISAN

The following organizations are participating in the first annual International Temple Mount Awareness Day:

Israel: The Temple Institute, Organization for the Renewal of the Temple (ORT), Women in Green, Matot Arim, Manhigut Yehudit, The Nascent Sanhedrin, The Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, The Organization for Human Rights on Temple Mount, Radio Free Nachlaot, El Har Hashem - The Temple Mount Advocacy Council, Israel National Radio

International: World Committee for the Land of Israel, Jewish Activists Network, Bnai Elim, All4Israel, Americans for a Safe Israel (AFSI), Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors

ARE YOU AWARE THAT:

The Temple Mount is the holiest place in the world; yet Jews and all non-Moslems are denied the right to pray in groups, and even as individuals; this refusal is accompanied by their constant degradation, and they are granted no opportunity for any religious expression whatsoever on the Temple Mount.

IN RESPONSE:

We are calling on all groups to unite to begin fighting this ongoing travesty. We are calling for a day of action to be known as “International Temple Mount Awareness Day.” We have no illusions and we fully understand that a long battle is still in front of us, but yet we must begin the work. We must bring the Temple Mount back into our national heart and mind and begin to restore it to its former glory. Yes, this will be a long difficult path, but so was our return to Zion after 2,000 years of exile. Our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents had their mission and we have ours.

This is our land! Happy Purim! 0

Instructions for unsubscribing can be found in the footer of this message.

————————————————————————–

Dear Friends,

Purim represents the holiday in which the Jewish People was victorious in their struggle against Haman and his evil decrees.

Even though Haman had already declared the decree of annihilating the Jewish People, Mordechai and Esther, like real activists, did not accept that decree and acted to overturn it. That is the message Mordechai and Esther teach us: it is up to each and one of us to behave like a proud Jew, adhering to our belief in the justness of our cause. When enemies wish to harm us, Israel will not fear nor kneel or bow to the haters of Israel but rather, will act and, if necessary, fight.

>From then to the present, the Jews have been forced to act against the
descendants of Haman, who was from the seed of Amalek.

The distinguished Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlap, of blessed memory, explained in his article “Arousing the Hatred of Amalek”, that in order to understand the meaning and importance of the commandment to “remember what Amalek did to you on your journey after you left Egypt”
(Deuteronomy 25:17), we must examine Amalek’s intentions.

The rabbi explains, based on various midrashim, that Amalek led Israel to be doubtful, hesitant and questioning the very fact of the involvement by G-d in the life of the people, until the children of Israel actually questioned: “Is the L-ord present among us or not?”
(Exodus 17:7).Amalek understood that only when the children of Israel would lack faith, their enemies could defeat them in battle. Thank G-d Amalek’s plan did not work out, Israel fought bravely, was victorious and returned to complete faith in G-d.

If, during the wilderness, Amalek introduced doubts and hesitation about the G-d of Israel, in our time, Amalek’s seed (Ahmedinajad, Hamas, Fatah, Jihad, etc.) go even further. Not only do they want to annihilate Israel and the Jewish people physically but they try to erase our identity by trying to implant in the Jewish People doubts and hesitation concerning our very existence as a People, and our right to all of the Land of Israel.

The latest hypocritical outcry of the Arabs against the fact that the Tomb of Machpela and Rachel’s Tomb have been included in the list of Jewish holy sites is only one example of this war by the Arabs against us.

This is the time to be like Mordechai and Esther, not to bow down to our enemies but rather declare loud and clear: The entire Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel. It was given to us by G-d as an everlasting inheritance and nobody has the right to give it away or take it away from us. Not only should the Tomb of Machpela in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem be included in the list of our holy sites but also Joseph’s Tomb in Shchem, and the tombs of Ruth and Yishays’, Otniel ben Knaz, Avner Ben Ner in Hevron , … and of course the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. In addition, Jews should continue to build and expand and settle all over our Biblical Homeland.

Women in Green continue now, more than ever, the struggle for the Land of Israel. Below, please find the description of our activity in Shdema and Netzer.

Over the past two weeks we have sent out a mailing by snail mail, which include our latest must see short movie about the Yibaneh fund for building and development in the hills of Judea founded by Women in Green. If you are not on our snail mailing list, please email us your exact name and address and we will send you the material. Thank you for being partners in the struggle for the land of Israel,

May it be His will that the verse “there was gladness and joy among the Jews, a feast and a holiday” will be fulfilled for all of us.

With love for Israel, Happy Purim!

Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover

Expanding Activity for Eretz Israel from Shdema - to Save the Lands of Netzer

Last Friday several dozen activists went up the Netzer hill, between Alon Shvut and Elazar, and heard a lecture by the veteran guide Aryeh Klein of Hebron on “The Grape Vine.” The lecture was followed by a tour in a safari vehicle of the areas under and opposite the Zayit neighborhood in Efrat. Thanks to the tour, there was a Jewish presence in areas where Jews had not set foot for many years.

The archaeological finds there prove that this entire area was inhabited by Jews in both the First and Second Temple periods. The terraces, coins, cisterns, wine presses, ritual baths - all tell what we knew all along: this land is ours!

Unfortunately, the Arabs, aided by European organizations, are taking control of considerable plots of no-man’s land in our area. The strong hand wielded against the Jews, the freeze, the fence - all these broadcast to the Arabs: establish facts on the ground, and the land of the Jews will be yours!

We must struggle for every foot of land. The planting by the international organizations is presumably done as a “humanitarian step,” out of concern for the so-called “poor” Arab peasant, but, actually, a struggle is being waged for the Land of Israel.

The Committee for Jewish Shdema, together with Women in Green, the Yibaneh Fund, and the Action Committees in Judea, have extended our activity to include Netzer. Since the IDF is building an outpost at Shdema, most of the activity can be transferred to Netzer, with a watchful eye on Shdema.

Tomorrow, Friday, on the eve of Purim, we will go up to Shdema to distribute mishloah manot to the soldiers and to hear a shiur by Rabbi Yaron Durani, the rabbi of Nokdim and Shdema, with wonderful music by Eli Gilboa of Kiryat Arba-Hebron.

Come in costume and with musical instruments!

* The activity will be held, regardless of weather conditions.

Bus transportation: from Kiryat Arba-Hebron at 8:15 a.m., Gush Etzion junction (Tzomet ha-Gush) 8:30 a.m., Efrat southern junction 8:35 a.m.

The real battle over Shdema is starting now 0

Instructions for unsubscribing can be found in the footer of this message.

————————————————————————–

With mixed feelings of happiness and worry we came to Shdema yesterday, Friday February 5th to listen to Prof. Hillel Weiss’s lecture on the literature of the first aliyah.

Feelings of happiness-because of the IDF’s decision to return to Shdema and set up an outpost there.

Feelings of worry- worrying whether the outpost would stand firm against the international pressure against Israel.

When we came down the hill at the end of the morning, a consular car was there, watching our moves. When we came near to try and see who was inside, we saw the driver was a bodyguard. Somebody was in the back. The back window was very dark. When we tried to approach the car even more to see who the person in the back was, the car fled towards Bet Sahour. We drove after them to photograph them and they fled towards Jerusalem. There is no doubt that in the car was a person who did not want us to know he was there. We think it might be the USA consul himself. A picture of the car can be seen by clicking on:
http://www.yeshabulletin.com/FIGHT%20BACK/FightBack.htm

The Haarets newspaper and their reporter Amira Hess* came out on Thursday and Friday with articles against the IDF’s return to Shdema, articles in favor of the Arabs of Bet Sahour and in favor of the illegal Arab construction at the bottom of Shdema claiming that the lands of Shdema have been taken away from the Arabs.

The truth is exactly the opposite. Since the Oslo agreements most of the area has been taken away from Israel and has become area A (under full Arab control). Gush Etzion has been left with only 4% of the land and from these 4% they want to take away Shdema from us!

About the second claim, i.e. that all the Arabs want is to build a hospital in Shdema that will serve “all”…we checked and saw that they have lots and lots of lands in area A on which they can build hospitals if that was what they really wanted. It is clear that the claim that they want to build a hospital there is just an excuse that sounds very “humane” when their real purpose is: to take away from Israel yet another area C under Israeli control and break the Jewish continuity between Jerusalem and Eastern Gush Etzion.

On June first of 2009, Shaul Goldstein, mayor of Gush Etzion, wrote a letter to the Defense Minister explaining why one should not allow the Arabs to build a hospital in Shdema claiming rightfully that it will not end with a hospital: “the Palestinians will then continue and demand to receive the rest of the area into their hands too- claiming they need parking spaces, and areas in which to grow and expand in the future”.

Unlike what Haarets is trying to claim, it is clear that the IDF’s decision to return to Shdema is a purely professional decision. The IDF understands the strategic importance of Shdema for the security of the area. Anybody with common sense understands one cannot abandon such an important place.

The Committee for a Jewish Shdema and Women in Green will continue with its activities in Shdema as planned.

Next week we will have the pleasure to hear a lecture by Emanuel Shilo, editor of the “Besheva” newspaper who will talk in Hebrew on “How to turn the plate around to our favor”.

The presence of each and every one of us in Shdema is now more important than ever. The support of all our members together with the constant presence of the devoted activists from Har Choma, Jerusalem.
Bet Shemesh, Efrat, Gush Etzion, kiryat Arab Hevron, together with the involvement of the members of Knesset active on behalf of Shdema- is what brought progress in the struggle for a Jewish Shdema. Now we must continue and make even more of an effort to come every week. Please G-d, we will succeed.

The Committee for a Jewish Shdema and Women in Green

Israel in Haiti 0

Instructions for unsubscribing can be found in the footer of this message.

————————————————————————–

Dear Friends,

The following letter by David Yehezkel says it all. Below the letter we include the link to the video clip about Israel’s amazing field hospital in Haiti.

Thank you Helen Freedman from AFSI for forwarding the information.

With love for Israel,

Nadia Matar
—————

ISRAEL’S DISPROPORTIONAL RESPONSE
by David Yehezkel

Many countries and world leaders have accused Israel of responding disproportionately to aggression from Hizballah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. However, it is time that the world press and media speak of another disproportionate response from Israel.

The terrible disastrous earthquake in Haiti has generated responses from many nations. The US has sent supplies and personnel, Britain sent 64 firemen and 8 volunteers, France sent troops for Search and Rescue. Many large and wealthy nations of the world sent money. The Arab and Moslem world nothing.

Israel, a nation of 7.5 million people has sent a team of 220 people that include Medical personnel and will establish the largest field hospital in Haiti, treating up to 500 people a day, an experienced Search and Rescue team and medical supplies. As in previous earthquake disasters, such as in Gujarat India in 2001 and in Turkey, in the bombings in Kenya, Israel has been one of the most generous givers of aid and assistance

Turkey seems to have forgotten this help as its extreme Moslem Government is cozying up to Iran.

Judge Goldstone, where are you now? Eating your heart out and hanging your head down in shame I hope.

The favorite occupation in the UN is Israel bashing. More resolutions have been passed condemning Israel than all the so called democratic nations such as Sudan, China, Russia and others for their crimes against their minorities.

I think it is time that the world should know about Israel’s disproportionate response.

FROM AFSI:
Please view this video from CNN. The reporter discovers, to her amazement, that Israel responded to the earthquake devastation in Haiti from “the other side of the world” with the most advanced field hospital installation possible. She marvels that the U.S., so much closer to Haiti, hasn’t done the same. Viewing this video will make you very proud of Israel’s accomplishments.

The world needs to learn a great lesson from Israel!

Erev Shabbat, Parshat Vaere 5770

The struggle for Shdema in Gush Etzion is starting up again.

After a relatively quiet period at Shdema of ongoing cultural activity, those coming to Shdema this morning were shocked to discover that all of the base’s buildings had been spray painted by leftist activists and Christian anarchists.

The graffiti consisted of verses from the Bible and slogans of “love and peace.” From the quantity of graffiti on the walls, it was obvious that they had spent hours at the base without the army interfering.

During the course of the lecture by Dr. Tzipi Rainey on the author Naomi Frankel and her writing, the Shdema Youth organized and repainted the entire base, expunging all the graffiti.

The question arose among the audience of the permissibility of expuning verses containing the name of G-d. The Committee for a Jewish Shdema argued that since this was a hostile invasion, despite the “love and peace” slogans, of sovereign Israeli territory and a challenge to the Jews: “You don’t belong here,” this was undoubtedly an attack on Jewish honor. Any thinking person realizes that just as we wouldn’t let a stranger into our living room to draw on the walls, not even verses from the Bible, this certainly applies in this case.

In the atmosphere of capitulation that reigns in Israel at present, the Arabs and their supporters are raising their head. We therefore were forced, not only to remove the graffiti, but to respond in the same manner. At the end of the morning, Shdema activists went down to the illegal compound that the Arabs built at the foot of Shdema, in Area C. a building against which destruction orders exist from the Civila administration but of course arent implemented.

They went in and sprayed all of the Arab illegal buildings, inside and out, on the walls, on the doors, and on the floors.

An IDF officer who was present there, promised “payback”, against the Jews, of course, and said: “I will personally see to it that you won’t go up to Shdema any more.” It’s a pity that this determination is revealed only against Jews, and not against the enemy. In light of this, the Committee for Jewish Shdema and Women in Green call upon all the people of Israel to come next Friday, January 22 (the eve of parshat Bo), and demonstrate a massive presence at the site. Israel must stop self-restraint and go over to the offensive in the struggle for Eretz Israel.

Planned for Friday next week, at 9:00 a.m.: a lecture by Dr. Haggai Ben-Artzi on the subject: “Eretz Israel in the Literature of the Kabbalists.”
